Recorded before a live audience in London in 1968, The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus was originally conceived as a BBC-TV special. The program also includes extraordinary performances by The Who, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, Yoko Ono, and The Dirty Mac. Available for the first time on vinyl, The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus soundtrack has been expanded to 28 tracks, received a new mix and 192k 24 bit HD restoration. One of the great undiscovered (bands) in contemporary moody effects-driven rock... an absolute gorgeous beauty Big Takeover Magazine A sparkling, delightful and varied blend of shoegaze, indie and drone pop... a glorious waterfall of embracing melodies that are cleverly bedded in a sea of hazy, psychedelic and yearning champagne Clank For Breakfast A trip wrapped in a dense stereo wall of sound.. an indispensable treat for lovers of shoegaze and post punk deserving of praise The Blog That Celebrates Itself Schoolkids Records has announced they will release the new Slowness album, entitled 'Berths'The album was produced by Monte Vallier (Weekend, The Soft Moon, Wax Idols). Side A was engineered by Dave Voigt (Luna, John Cale, Yo La Tengo, Alex Chilton) at his Beyond Notes studio in Brooklyn. Side B was done with Vallier at Ruminator Audio in San Francisco. This release follows up their 2014 album 'How to Keep from Falling off a Mountain' and 2013 album'For Those Who Wish to See the Glass Half Full'.Slowness runs mostly mid-tempo, sometimes fast and occasionally slow. As for this new record, it is purposefully slow, sounding like a hybrid between classic Slowdive, early-Cure and mid-period Neil Young. Often labelled shoegaze or dream pop with elements of slowcore, psych rock and even Krautrock, this music is perhaps best referred to as drone-pop. Imagine Spacemen 3 teaming up with Murmur-era R.E.M. with female harmonies. This is a very personal record. Its taken a while to make for several reasons. When we started recording during the summer of 2014, we knew wanted a slower, heavier record to reflect the current American grain, says Geoffrey Scott. We tend to think everythings gone bad since the last election and sometimes forget that that election was 30 years in the making. So, we set out to capture that, but then the whole concept probably took a turn when Julie and I decided to end our 11-year relationship as a couple. So, the political became blurred with the personal, and the lyrics probably reflect that. The first single and video, 'Rose' will be released on April 3. The band will tour throughout the United States in the summer and fall of 2019.
Yeasayer's latest LP is perhaps their greatest.Erotic Reruns captures what it's like to be alive in 2019 with wide-eyed clarity. The songs veer from the intensely personal and romantic to the fervently political-an eminently danceable record that challenges their audience and makes them think a bit more slowly to ponder issues so germane to our maddening, speed of light era of content consumption.
The Boxmasters is a 60s-influenced rock and roll band and the melodic songs on Speck are reminiscent of that era. The album was produced by Geoff Emerick (4X Grammy Award winner; engineer on Beatles albums, Revolver, Sergeant Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Abbey Road; plus albums by Badfinger, The Zombies, America, and Paul McCartney). The band members are Speck is the 10th album for band members Teddy Andreadis (vocals, keys), J.D. Andrew (vocals, drums), and Bud Thornton (vocals, drums). The eleven songs on the album were written by the band. Sonically Speck touches on all of The Boxmaster s influences, including The Beatles, The Byrds and Big Star but there are new sonic touches as well; ukulele, cardboard boxes and the Beatle s famous tea towels on the drums trick pop up on songs throughout the album. Lyrically it deals with every thing from personal relationships to politics, and social issues . The theme being that we are all specks in this universe trying to navigate it , during trying times in the world we still have our own loves, desires , problems and dreams as individuals, says Bud. We're just little humans. No matter what our standing is in society . 1. I Wanna Go Where You Go 2. Anymore 3. Shut the Devil Up 4. Let the Bleeding Pray 5. Here She Comes 6. Day's Gone 7. Watchin' the Radio 8. Someday 9. Square 10. Speck 11. Somebody to Say

Kicks is an eclectic album of ten cover songs - from "Mack The Knife" written in 1928 for a German musical (known in the U.S. as The Threepenny Opera) that became a jazz standard, to "Bad Company" the eponymous theme song for the British rock band written in 1974. The arrangement and instrumentation, by producer Michael Napolitano (Ani DiFranco), provides a fresh and modern sonic infusion on every song. Rickie Lee Jones skyrocketed to fame in 1979 when as a barely known artist she appeared on Saturday Night Live. Performing her biggest hit Chuck E s In Love in her trademark red beret, Time Magazine instantly dubbed her the Duchess of Coolsville. Since then she has gone on to win two Grammy Awards, appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone twice, and included in VH1 s 100 Greatest Women of Rock & Roll.

Forging ever bolder and emotive paths through electronic music, Plaid are set to release their 10th studio album Polymer on June 7th via Warp Records. The albums 13 tracks cover energetic bangers, bright melodic visceral rhythms and hypnotic wombic textures to create perhaps their most cohesive, direct album to date. The innovative duo Ed Handley and Andy Turner have been expanding the realm of electronic music as Plaid since they diverged from trio The Black Dog in the early 90s. In 2019, Plaid stand alongside the likes of Aphex Twin, Autechre and Nightmares on Wax as mainstays of the Warp label as it reaches its 30th anniversary, celebrating achievements in music like few others. Their adventurous and playful approach has taken them to working with Bjork and drawing comparisons to fellow collaborators Mark Bell, Arca, Haxan Cloak and more recent Releases by Skee Mask and Daniel Avery. Theyve worked with the London Sinfonietta, the Southbank Gamelan Players, composed for Felixs Machines robotic sculptures, and soundtracked events as diverse as reindeer migration in northern Europe to a level in popular platformer Little Big Planet 3. In a live capacity their show straddles both a contemporary and club capacity, able to pack venues from Sydney Opera House and Southbank to Bloc and Berghain.
Plague Vendor are a fierce live band and the foursome have spent the last five years playing endless live shows. A fearless our-way-is-the-hard-way work ethic and famously physical live shows won the band a ferocious fan base. At the heart of every show is the frenetic performances by front man Brandon Blaine, guitarist Jay Rogers, bassist Michael Perez, drummer Luke Perine. That combined with the musicians’ energy and spirit, the band evokes a foreboding, and very rock ‘n’ roll presence. Plague Vendor are ready to release their third album, entitled By Night, a record that captures feelings of ruin and regeneration, of charisma and catastrophe and of slashing at the night with nothing but pure electricity. Where 2016’s BLOODSWEAT ended with a to-be-continued moment and Blaine shouting “Romance!” into the silence, By Night ends with a second of feedback and noise. It’s a perfectly spent finish to an adrenaline rush of a record that asks, “What just happened?” The band spent eleven days locked in at Hollywood’s legendary EastWest Studios (Brian Wilson, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop) with St Vincent producer John Congleton, with all visitors banned and all distraction eliminated. When they met Congleton they connected intensely and instantly, more like co-conspirators than colleagues. With Congleton’s precision production, they found their own way between the powerful-but-too-polished sound of right now and the engaging-but-aging reinterpretations of classic punk/rock albums of the 60s and 70s. The album is called By Night, because as Blaine says: “Nothing cool happens during the day.”
A Different Kind of Human is Aurora's third album, and one that forms the second part of last year's surprise release, the critically acclaimed Infections of A Different Kind. A more experimental album than it's predecessors, it is a record that finds Aurora focusing on the ecological crisis and the consequences of the rampant individualism so prevalent in society. It is another hugely impressive, conceptual leap forward from the young artist and one that firmly consolidates Aurora as a creative force to be reckoned with!! The album features singles "Animal" and "The Seed".

City Night is comprised of 12 high energy blues rock songs to surely please the worldwide fan base. On June 7, 2019, hard working rock 'n roll band Hollis Brown from Queens, NY, will release their new album 'Ozone Park' on Mascot Label Group/Cool Green Recordings. Formed by singer/guitarist Mike Montali and lead guitarist Jonathan Bonilla, the band has been together 10 years, during which it’s released an EP and two albums, along with a Record Store Day tribute to the Velvet Underground’s ‘LOADED’ album. Hollis Brown is a group that lives up to the blue-collar legacy of their hometown. But, as evidenced on their new album 'Ozone Park’, there’s also a great deal of sophistication in the mix with rich melodicism and advanced harmonics that allows Hollis Brown to blend a wealth of influences into their own distinctive sound. “I think with this record we wanted to make a statement,” explains Montali. “Rock music can still be done in a modern way that is still as good as some of those acts from the past.”
Duress is the fourth album from LAs psychedelic rockers Froth and their second for Wichita. Hannah Rodgers returns with a new Pixx album, Small Mercies, on June 7 on 4AD. Although love lives at the heart of the BRIT School graduate’s second album, it has little to do with romance. Small Mercies is absolutely not a heartbreak record, nor is it a celebration of new love, or sisterly call-to-arms or vengeful catharsis. Instead, it is a series of poetic examinations of love across the experiential spectrum, from the micro (self-love) to the macro (devotional faith-inspired love, love for this planet), set to a soundtrack that mixes electronic pop and grungy guitar rock with aplomb. Small Mercies follows the 23 year-old’s debut album, The Age Of Anxiety (2017) – an unsettling synth-pop record fuelled by Pixx’s own debilitating experience of angst – and 2015’s forlorn and folk-edged Fall In EP. Co-produced by Simon Byrt (who worked on both her EP and debut album) and Dan Carey, it sees Pixx assuming different personas to examine the damage done by religion, gender-based power hierarchies and stereotypes, the tipping point of Earth’s destruction and love.
One of the recent past’s most unexpected come-back stories, Peter Perrett – former frontman of The Only Ones - resurfaced in 2017 with How The West Was Won, an album that saw him chart in the UK. In this new chapter, Peter continues to dissect romance and politics with his trademark sense of sardonic wit and wry humor, if not with more vigor and a palpable sense of immediacy, on Humanworld, his second album for Domino.
Rough Trade Records joyfully introduces Together and Apart, the debut album from gorgeous acoustic outfit PicaPica. PicaPica features the vocal interplay of Josienne Clarke and Samantha Whates, dual front women who create powerful harmonies atop layers of texture created by Adam Beattie, “Scotland’s king of soft-spoken chanson” and MOBO/Mercury nominated producer Sonny Johns, a tiding of magpis picking shiny moments of tone and timbre from 60s west coast, sunshine pop, and indie folk. PicaPica are not consigned to one style or genre, and any preconceptions we may have towards semi-acoustic pop-folk is discarded as we hear their voices overlap in a modern, atonal way, the track having been influenced by both Brian Eno and Meredith Monk whilst mimicking the tradition of Nordic a cappella choral music. It manages to sound both like the ancient echoes of a distant past, with the eerie, futuristic reverberations of a modular synthesizer. Together And Apart is about health and heartache, spring and shade, love and loss and life, and PicaPica are able to balance life’s joys and sorrows beautifully, effortlessly and in continuous harmony, viewing life’s coloured photographs as imagined through their silvery negatives. RIYL: Gillian Welch, First Aid Kit, Free Design, Laura Gibson, The Association, Mamas & Papas
The previously unknown band called MOTANKA managed to completely stun and thrill a huge audience at 2018`s edition of the Wacken Open Air Metal Battle: The Ukrainian newcomers, using traditional Ukrainian instruments, deliver a wholly unique mix of metal and folk, with elements of modern electronica. The four-piece has managed to capture the trance-like magic of their live shows on their self-titled debut – what the band refers to as "Mystic Metal" leaves each and every stereotype behind and hypnotizes with heavy ethno soundscapes.
FIRST RELEASE IN 10 YEARS!!
Here are Tommy's comments...
Alive started out as an acoustic album, but...little by little...I realized that there was no way I could interpret the songs acoustically so I gave into electricity!
It was a very long time in the making. Some songs go back 30 or 40 years and some are brand new, and there are lots of different kinds of songs. If there's one big theme it's that there's absolutely no theme.
I wasn't listening to the radio or what was going on around me musically; I just recorded songs that I had wanted to do for a long time or now.
For instance, there's a ballad version of ''I Think We're Alone Now'' that's very different than the original one. I'd also been thinking about a remake of ''Draggin' The Line'' for a long time and felt that a street or rap version might be perfect.
So I got a hold of T.O.N.E.-z, who is a great friend and an amazing talent, to lay down a rap on ''Draggin' The Line.'' Then, I called in another great friend Stevie Van Zandt to record a guitar solo.
The Rolling Stone's ''The Last Time'' had been rattling around in my head for awhile so I did a very different version of it. T.O.N.E.-z contributed to that one, too.
For the remake of ''I'm Alive,'' a song I originally recorded for my Crimson and Clover album, I asked my good buddy from the Rascals, Gene Cornish, to do some guitar parts for it.
Jonathn Ashe, who played bass on ''Mony Mony'' and has been a Shondell for years, was a constant presence as a co-writer and player. He really played a key part in the process.
And my good buddy Jimmy ''The Wiz'' Wisner was my co-producer until he passed away.
Alive has really been a labor of love: a personal statement of where I am today.
“For most people who create art I would assume there is some kind of deep unanswerable hole in your soul as to why you're making it…” So says Stef Chura ahead of the release of Midnight, her gritty, vehement new album - recorded and produced by Will Toledo of Car Seat Headrest -and her first new collection of songs for the Saddle Creek label. Illuminating that search for answers with a fevered sense of exploration, Midnight is a bold leap forward from Messes, Stef’s contagious debut album, with every aspect of her new work finding bold ways to express itself as it rips through twelve restless and relentless new tracks. A couple of years on from the release of Messes, Stef is still based in Detroit, that most singular city which has seen it all, from the no-mans-land of its initial collapse through to the resurgent place it is now. Stef found inspiration from the people she surrounded with herself with, more so than the place itself. It’s no surprise that Midnight is testament to those kind of characteristics; a rugged and robust burst of defiance. “I’m usually dealing with the context of what I can’t say or haven’t said,” Stef says. Which is to say that if its predecessor was a raw, somewhat unadorned document of Stef’s work, then Midnight is the muscular, swaggering evolution. “This album has a depth to it and a particular sound because of Will,” Stef states regarding Toledo’s input, whose spiky nuances can be found across the length and breadth of Midnight, the record presenting an exhilarating rush of sound and colour as Stef’s spirited vocal finds and signature guitar sounds unravel alongside in a thrilling meeting of ideas and influences; dispelling demons, song by song. Where Stef’s voice was previously a somewhat ambiguous character, somewhat buried within her songs, here it is the striking opposite, an assured voice that drives the whole thing forwards. “I think a lot of Messes was lyrically unintelligible which was somewhat of a bummer to me. I had no self awareness that I was singing like that,” Stef says. “With this album I wanted it to be clearer and more listenable, in a number of ways,” Stef says. Proof of this outlook can be found on the edgy lead track ‘Method Man’, a boisterous three-minutes that melds jagged, skewed guitars with a distinctive voice that has a new-found sense of confidence, whether spitting spoken-word mantras during the exhilarating percussive coda or simply letting loose amid the squalling bluster of guitars. You can find it elsewhere too, in fact it runs right through the heart of Midnight’s twelve tracks. Take the sweeping brilliance of ‘Jumpin’ Jack’, a somewhat more refined three-minutes that bursts into a thrilling finale, or ‘Sincerely Yours’, a brooding four-minutes initially gives deserved space to Stef’s voice and words more than ever before, before bursting into life with with a pent-up energy that positively roars from within. “I used to only find peace in complete disorder, because order seemed completely not possible for me- hence my last album being called Messes,” Stef confesses. “Even though some of these songs came from a similar time period, I’ve grown and changed a lot over the last two years, and what I’ve processed over the last couple of years is the change that is in expressed in these songs.” Equal parts thrilling and angsty, Midnight is a testament to the collaborative process, a record that makes the very most of those who came together to make it, but more than that, it’s a firm statement of tenacity and perseverance, of not resting on your laurels but leaping forwards no matter the situation you find yourself in. From out of one day and into the next.
Webster Station (Boogie Funk & Disco from Dayton, Ohio) was a demo session recorded for Warner Bros. In 1979. The demo was rejected for not being 'mainstream' enough for their label and the tape remained in an A&R office and dusty garage for over 30 years. Family Groove Records has faithfully restored the original 1/4" demo reel tape.
A unique and powerful collaboration between the artist and poet Danny Simmons and legendary jazz bassist Ron Carter. This live recording from BRIC House in Brooklyn captured Simmons reading poetry from his collection of prose The Brown Beatnik Tomes with projections of his own striking Abstract Expressionist paintings providing the stage backdrop while Carter performed solo accompaniment along with instrumental interludes from his fleet trio.
Originally intended as demos, Final Transmission marks the first Cave In album in eight years and the bands last with Caleb, who performs on all of the songs. Caleb's voicemusical and physicalare everywhere on Final Transmission. The opening title track is a voice memo of a song idea he sent to his bandmates the last time they saw each other. All proceeds from Final Transmission will be given to Caleb's wife and children.
Loamlands' sophomore studio release, Lez Dance, is hook and story driven, stripped down to explore a new kind of vulnerability. Loamlands is a distorted country music outfit that places queer storytelling at the forefront of their music. They intimately grapple with identity and by playing with genre and history, twisting tales by tweaking pronouns falling in love with records, not people.
The “Notre-Dame” album collects the most beautiful sacred music recorded and dedicated to Notre-Dame, and featuring some of Decca and Deutsche Grammophon’s greatest classical artists: Olivier Latry (Organist at Notre- Dame), Cecilia Bartoli, Jessye Norman, Roberto Alagna, Pierre Cochereau, Herbert von Karajan and many more.
